Who owns the encounter
A visit with a clinical portion has two halves, owned by two different parties.
The encounter — history, exam, assessment, plan, and anything prescribed or ordered — is furnished, documented and billed by a contracted, clinician-owned practice. Labs at Home does not furnish it, direct it or bill for it.
Labs at Home is the delivery layer: scheduling and routing, equipment, specimen collection and chain of custody, CLIA-waived testing, EKG capture, and getting specimens and results where they need to go.
Testing stays strictly within the CLIA-waived category. Anything else goes to a certified laboratory.
